Deleting 3200 Duplicate files... should it takes 12 hours for Dupe Away to delete these duplicates?

Aundre Nov 04, 2014 11:07AM CST

I had 3200 duplicate files. All in iTunes Music folder. I started to deletion process last night at 11:00. Dupe Away is moving extremely slow at the time of this writing it is 11:06 the following morning. Should it take 12 hours is there something I can do to speed up the process?

Dupe Away uses scripts for the deletions, and when you have over about 3 or 4 thousand tracks, the performance can start to get a little slower. Using scripts is the safest method to help ensure that your iTunes Library is not affected. While there are some faster methods to do the deletions, those can put your library more at risk. Your computer’s RAM, processor speed, and hard drive type will also have an effect on how fast the deletion process will take. As long as you don’t receive an error or a crash, then the program should still be working, and I would let Dupe Away keep running.
