If your iTunes library is stored in a different location than the default one that iTunes normally uses inside your Music/iTunes folder, then you’ll need to point Dupe Away to that location in its Preferences on the iTunes tab.

If you still have any issues with Dupe Away parsing your iTunes library XML file after verifying that your library location is set correctly in Dupe Away Preferences, please submit a support ticket and be sure to let us know whether your library is in a non-default location and whether that location is on a drive or partition other than your computer’s main hard drive where your OS is installed.

I have the same exact issue on Mac OS X 10.9.5. My music is stored on an external drive. The issue with the fix mentioned here is -the app crashes before I can open the Preferences.

We are investigating issues with using Dupe Away 3 on iTunes libraries that are stored on a separate drive from your OS and iTunes. If you are experiencing this issue with an external drive library, please contact us in support by clicking on Email Us on the right side of this page and be sure to mention that you have an external drive library.

Mike, have you resolved the 'external drive' issues yet? I would like to purchase the product, but my 25,000 song library resides on my Time Capsule and I do not want to spend money if it won't work.

We have not updated Dupe Away 3 for full external drive support, and I still don’t have an ETA on when it will be fully compatible with external drive libraries, though we do offer a 30 day money-back guarantee in case Dupe Away doesn’t work for you, so you can always try it first and see.
